  The department not only retains its original wood science and process application subjects, in the year 2004, after the transformation in Taiwan’s education, but it also took in new designing subjects. And making the best use of the facilities, putting effort into teaching woodworking techniques and cultivate candidates to attend the WorldSkills Competition. Also, the department encourages students to obtain technical licenses of various occupations, participate in industry-academia cooperations and research programs.

  The students of our department have a broad and diverse choice of industry to work in, such as furniture and craft-making; wooden green building material industry; structure, interior, yacht design and construction; cultural creative industry; pulp and paper industry and agriculture waste reuse and development (biofuel, wood pellets, charcoal etc.). You could also choose to be an educator, or a government employee in places related to forestries, such as the Forestry Bureau, Tourism Bureau, National Parks, Forestry Research Institute, and others. Furthermore, if you want to continue your studies, you can study at a research institute related to the wood processing and design industry in Taiwan or abroad to obtain a master’s degree or Ph.D.
